A framework for electronic identity and trust
Regulation (EU) No 910/2014 established EU rules for electronic identification and trust services, including a legal framework for electronic signatures, electronic seals, electronic time stamps, electronic documents, electronic registered delivery services and website authentication.
The framework was amended by Regulation (EU) 2024/1183, which introduced the European Digital Identity Framework and expanded the surrounding regulatory and technical landscape. Organisations should therefore work from the current legislation and applicable implementing measures, rather than relying on older summaries.
Technical and assurance-focused support
TrustAssert can help organisations understand eIDAS-related services and requirements from technical, certification, supervisory-body and accreditation perspectives. Any specific legal interpretation should be confirmed with appropriately qualified legal advisers.
